Summer vibes & Sausalito

Playing blog catch up again.

Super moon Open Water Rowing Club open house in Sausalito- great fun and lovely folks. It was too windy for rowing unfortunately but every cloud has a silver lining...

We got to hear Connor Jones share his tales of this year's record breaking victory in the Seventy48, aka 70 miles in 48 hours. The race started at the head of Tacoma’s Thea Foss Waterway near the Museum of Glass. Next stop the end of the race at  Port Townsend.  Rules are simple: no motors, no support, and no wind. That’s right pedal, paddle, or row only. Connor, and his fellow rower Thiago, did it in 9 hours and 54mins, non stop rowing in the dark, crossing shipping lanes - epic!

Some pictures of Corte Madera shopping centre which, along with fancy schmancy shops, has the loveliest landscaped outdoor areas - you can sit and relax if you've run out of shopping steam.

With the amount of shopping online or click&collect, coupled with petrol price rises, you have to wonder what will become of these types of shopping centres?  All the buildings and public areas  are so well done but surely it's not sustainable over the long term with so few actual shoppers?

It was very hot and not a lot of people shopping.
The flower baskets were overflowing with blooms, beautiful.

Beautiful evening in Sausalito,  free music in the park - everyone having fun in the sun 👌.

Yachts joining in the Friday night fun anchored just off the park shoreline.

Thanks to Kevin for a fantastic evening topped off by a delicious dinner at Osterio DiVino in Sausalito.  This place was very cool, think London jazz club scene.   James Mosely trio were playing funky tunes - good vibes, happy diners and the wait crew were run off their feet - a great end to our time in San Rafael and North Bay area.
