Muir Woods National Monument today. A little foggy going over the Golden Gate Bridge so we had layers - jumpers and jackets just in case.
The woods are part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and have the most amazing towering redwood trees. You had to watch your step for tree roots as mostly we were looking up.
We wandered along a couple of trails admiring the majesty of the Redwood beauties and the way the grow almost in rings or families of trees - especially in Cathedral Grove.
The Redwoods and forrest floor benefit from the moisture in the fog and Redwood Creek that trickles through the park - we managed to 'get our eye in' and spot some Coho Salmon fingerlings/fry in the shallows.
We also saw chipmunks by the giftstore/restroom area. Boy those critters are cute and quick as a flash.
Muir Woods has been federally protected as a National Monument since 1908 and it's a great spot to visit with any number of tracks and trails to take.
After a little hiking, refreshments were called for and off we went to Tiburon via Belvedere - think exclusive high end property with wow factor houses, gardens, sea views and private docks.
