Whale watching off Davenport beach

Great drive across high dusty plains and then dropped down into the Los Banos valley....what a contrast...lush fields where cherries, strawberries, artichokes etc all grow to feed the greater California population.  Stopped at all the beaches and small towns as we made our way back to  San Francisco.  Capitola was this cute, funky town and Santa Cruz was.....cruisy - lots of students and surfer dudes  and great beach promenade....2.5 miles of cliff hiking with spectacular views.  Spotted a small pod of whales not far off the beach in Davenport...spotted the water spouts first and then realized....ah ha...whales.... magical.     Capitola pier below...
