Local cuisine

We've been asked what the local food is like, I'll think I'll let the pictures do the talkingπŸ™‚ remember you can click on the picture to zoom in mum😁.

Man cannot live by bread alone but they sure give it a try here. Fresh bread of all shapes and sizes, simmet bread, gozleme....too much!

So much fresh cooked street food which is delicious. We had amazing grilled fish wraps in Istanbul. We always ensure it's cooked fresh in front of us.. just in case πŸ˜ƒ

You can get fancy-schmancy cuisine, it's all pretty good,  fabulous to taste new mixes of herbs and spices. We love the sumac mix they have in the spice options, delicious!

A couple of times in small villages we ate where the village people ate, canteen style where you point at what you would like and it's plated up for you. We've loved the stuffed capsicums and a leek vegetable mix πŸ‘Œ

A favourite discovery is menemen, possibly could be described as a cross between shakshuka and scrambled eggs with green capsicums, sumac and spices.... delicious!

Most days start with a healthy Mediterranean breakfast, it sets you up for the day.

The fresh squeezed juices are great, especially pomegranate and OJ mixed.

It is great to watch the gozleme pancakes being made on these big round burners, the mix of spinach, dill, goats cheese....mmmmmm!

You hear chickens wherever you are, even in the old  town in Istanbul so it follows fresh eggs make great omelettes. After a long day hiking an omelette never tasted so good.

You won't go hungry in Turkey, there's so much to choose from and we're doing our best to ensure we try a range of different flavours. We're not complaining πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
