Kotor, Montenegro

We drove from Croatia and crossed the border into Bosnia Herzegovina for about 20 mins and then another border crossing into Montenegro.
From what we have seen, Montenegro is a little bit rough around the edges, it's trying hard to capture the tourists that flood into Croatia every summer, it has a cruise ship market that is growing but from appearances it looks like it is a battle.

Kotor has a spectacular backdrop of the black mountains alongside a 20 mile waterway and it appears  almost fjord-like.  The old town is a maze of alleyways, a cathedral from 1166, city walls  and a fortress path that extend to the top of the mountains at about 835ft!, which we chose not to climb in the 38degrees heat. The fortress walls are lit up at night and look beautiful.   We sat in a wee cafe in the old town and talked with some Brits from a cruise ship about how they felt about the Brexit result,  they were all very concerned, they had voted 'IN'. Interesting sitting in Montenegro and watching CNN live as the political news unfolds.  It is incredibly hot, 38 degrees, the lowest temp forecast is 24 at 3am and then it will climb up again.....we're having a heatwave....

There are a lot of cats here, we visited the Cats Museum which included cats medals for feline bravery and community contributions over the years. The story goes the cats of Kotor  ate all the rats and saved the town from the great plague and Kotor's cats. have a special place in Kotor. We saw some manky looking things as well as some beauties..

Live sculpture of the day, a slinky black cat cruising the old town.
