Beliche and the KRKA National Park

Saturday 25June

We farewelled Montenegro, took the car on the car ferry for a short ride and headed back to Croatia. We had thought to  go from Montenegro into Macedonia and on down to Greece but changed our plans and we are headed for Budapest, Hungary....with some stops a!ong the way.

First stop Beliche, a very quiet little rural village, quite close to Sebinek town. We had lovely hosts and they picked some fresh figs for us and, in broken English and hand gestures, advised is to put them in the fridge and have them chilled for brekky.  These were the best figs we have ever had, as big as an appleand,  sweet,  juicy and delicious!

We took the opportunity to visit KRKA National Park (similar to Plitviche Lakes, but smaller scale) and it was stunning. We drove to a tiny village, Skradin, and hopped on a boat which took you into the park.

The park had boardwalks just above the water and you felt  like you were walking on water. The water meadows were  full of  bird-life and there were numerous tracks you could walk. The remains of the world's second hydro power plant are here, Skadin was the second town in the world to be lit up (2 days after Niagara). Skadin had electric power before many other fancy European cities.
