Our last day in Cee beside the sea. We woke to gloomy skies but the weather improved over the course of the day.
We saw a steady flow of peregrinos heading for Finisterre via the coastal path, all with pack covers and rain ponchos at the ready.
We had to check out the bus station for our trip back to Santiago de Compostela tomorrow, get lunch and do a few errands in the town.
Lunch is the most important meal of the day in Spain. There's two schools of thought as to the origin of the 'menu del dia'. One suggests it dates back to 1964, to a Spain still living under Franco’s oppressive dictatorship and this was a for workers to obtain a nutritious meal at an affordable price. The alternate suggests it was brought in to standardise affordable meals as part of boosting tourisim with fixed price three course meals. Fun fact it was a legal requirement until very recently to offer 'menu del dia' - this law now only applies to Madrid.
We had lunch in the little local bar near us, see pic above. It was full of workers getting their lunch. Bars are often like an extension of the home - a place to meet outside of their apartments- watch football, celebrate a special occasion, or just grab lunch as part of the working day.
Not much to report today :) - a necessary 'rats & mice' organising day.
Hasta luego! (Still light at 10.49pm)
