Troppo bello Alghero

(Usual waiver applies to grammar, typos, spelling as I'm posting via a small phone screen on the hoof 🤭, click on the pics to zoom in).

Too good! Alghero turned on all its charms again for us on day 2. Glorious sunshine, chill vibes, relaxed atmosphere and such friendly and helpful locals.   Fear not, you won't get a day by day update but just sharing how awesome this little place is. Because Alghero is not a big cruise ship port it feels 'local' even though you can spot the tourists fairly easily. Funnily enough on the TV news tonight there was a feature on the cruise ships coming into Cagliari and Olbia ports and I think they were saying it's not sustainable....but I could be wrong. Anyway...happy days here in Alghero 👍 #💓 Sardinia 👌

We had a mooch  around the local morning fish market and the fish looked so fresh!  Then we set off for Maria Pia beach on the edge of Alghero town.  You can't believe the water clarity and colour of the water, it stops you in your tracks, molto bene!
As it was 27°C and not a breath of wind, the sea beckoned.
Absolutely beautiful water, refreshing and calm. Very safe as it was shallow for quite a distance. There are public beaches and then beaches where you rent an umbrella and sun lounger and you can use the facilities (showers, loo etc) and have lunch in the shade.

We had a great swim. I have to say the lifeguards here are onto a winner, so shallow for a long way, no waves as such and clear water. We made our way back to the old town for a late lunch and siesta. The siesta concept has a lot of merit on a baking hot day😁.
If shopping is your thing there are so many gorgeous shops and galleries to tempt you. It's a sophisticated town that's for sure, but understated rather than pretensious.
When you're on the road a long time you can get tired of eating in restaurants and to counter this we often make dinner in our apartment. Today we decided on pizza beside the sea and a spot of people watching as the evening promenade unfolded.  Check out the size of the pizza! Very tasty...after all Italy is the home of the pizza 👌.
Buonanotte amici miei, goodnight my friends 🌻.
