Warm welcome in the UK, Bristol

Flew Easyjet from Berlin to Manchester. Our first Easyjet experience, its  like a bus....no seat allocation you just get on and grab a seat. Bit of a scramble but not as bad as I expected. When we arrived at Manchester we were really impressed with the helpful officials at the airport and train station, everyone went out of their way to help us. We had 4 train changes to get to Bristol and the train driver at Manchester said just hop on this train to Birmingham and you eliminate two train changes. Then at Birmingham he hopped out of his drivers car and personally walked us to the Penzance train platform to be sure we got the correct train, super friendly and helpful.

Had a wonderful time with Graham's family in Bristol, thanks to everyone for being so welcoming and showing us such lovely places, we'd never have found them under our own steam.

Great to meet you this morning at breakfast in Plymouth. Let's hope that for all of us the weather starts to improve and all the best with the rest of your adventure.

You mentioned you were going on to Weymouth. While there, you might want to take the No.1 bus (I think) over to Portland and get off just as you get onto the Isle of Portland across the causeway. You can then walk to the WPNSA which is the Olympic sailing venue. You should be able to wander round there still until they shut it down completely for security for the Olympics in a few weeks time. Also on Portland is an interesting sculpture trail in one of the disused quarries. However, while there, don't mention the word rabbit! It is a local superstition not to say it as apparently the rabbits would rush from their warrens just before a rockfall and so the quarrymen became superstitious and wouldn't say rabbit!

    Have a great trip,

    Andy & Anne (Charmary)
